I thoroughly researched for a very long time for a responsible and reputable Keeshond breeder. There are way too many breeders who don’t understand (or care) what it takes to not only produce beautiful puppies, but healthy puppies through testing. I was thrilled to find Jodi when I saw how much care and excellence she puts into her kennel and puppies, and she produces some of the most gorgeous Keeshond puppies I’ve ever seen. I also loved that Jodi has a large Facebook group of clientele that share photos of their now grown puppies. All breeders can show their cute puppies when they advertise them, but you rarely get to see what those puppies grow up to look like. With Jodi’s Facebook group, there are hundreds of happy clients sharing their beautiful, healthy dogs they purchased from her. Many clients are repeat customers including myself- I have two Keeshonden from Jodi, and I can’t recommend her and Erbekees enough!

We had been looking at getting a dog for a while and stumbled upon the Keeshond breed. After doing much research we found out about Jodi and got on her wait list last summer. Since then she provided frequent updates and kept us well informed. Our puppy was finally born on January 1 and we took him home end of February. The wait was worth it!

Maurice is a very friendly and smart boy, already learning just a week after getting him. The vet told us Jodi did a great job with him and keeping us updated on what to do with training! Very much appreciate all the updates, information, and photos. Highly recommend!

Edited to add: Maurice is now about seven months and he continues to be a well socialized, happy boy.

It has now been four years since we brought our two little ones home and honestly, nothing has changed since then. Jodi is devoted to breeding beautiful healthy animals that become lifelong friends. The first time you meet her you understand her devotion to these fine Keeshonden. She is very open about the health of her dogs and provides more complete medical testing than most of us can understand.

She encourages you to come by for a visit and see her dogs first hand. We had the pleasure of meeting her and seeing all of the adult dogs as well as a previous litter. You could immediately tell how much she cares for them. Once our litter was born, she kept all of the future parents informed on a weekly basis if not more often; sending e-mail updates about progress, posting pictures and keeping in touch on an individual basis. Just amazing!

Jodi also moderates a forum where the adoptive families can share stories, pictures, training tips and tricks as well as getting to know others around the country with similar interests. Everyone has been so welcoming when we joined, and after a few posts/replies, it makes you feel like you are part of a family.

Upon pick-up of the puppies, she hands over a binder for each little dog that contains all the health testing records, parents’ background/test records, pedigree tree, and other valuable information. No other breeder has ever provided this much information to us before, and we love the fact she continues to stay in touch with us answering questions or just checking in.

While we have never met an irresponsible breeder, we also have never met one that put so much effort into keeping in contact with the families once the puppies have gone to their forever home.

After losing two dogs in 2014, I decided to adopt a Keeshond puppy from Erbekees. I have been a long time owner of Keeshond's, but they are difficult to locate in California. In May 2015 I brought home Kodi, the perfect temperament and personality for my two older Keeshond's at the time. Now it is 2019, and I have three pups from Jodi, I am proud to say, two of them are the beautiful white Keeshond.

Jodi makes the entire process easy, from beginning to end. Jodi is very transparent about her breeding program and is very knowledgeable about the breed. She puts a tremendous amount of effort into ensuring the health and temperament of both the parents and the puppies. I picked up two of the puppies from Jodi's home, where I could meet the parents and see firsthand how well she takes care of her dogs and puppies. The first pickup Jodi met me at the Huntsville airport, so I could return home the same day.

I highly recommend Jodi Erbe and her puppies, her breeding program should be the standard. Jodi has provided a notebook for each one of the pups loaded with information about the parents. I have had puppies in the past that were the result of irresponsible breeding and all had health issues their entire life. My three Erbekees are all healthy dogs, they are wonderful with all people from kids to seniors, and other dogs alike. Erbekees number 4 will be coming home in December.

I am not sure if my previous review was lost.

Jodi is exceptionally knowledgeable about Keeshonden and dogs in general. She tests her puppies, as well as older dogs, way beyond the norm of other breeders. My vet was amazed at the responsible nature of checking KATIA. Katia, is from Jodi.

My Kees. died unexpectedly. I wanted to get a pup and I only wanted a pup from her. She had brought Katia over from Russia to breed, but she did not conceive. I gave Katia her forever home. You can see pictures of Katia as a pup on the web site (or you used to). I have talked and emailed with Jodi, I think she is a remarkable person. She is very special indeed

We were first directed to Erbekees through the AKC market place. After checking out Jodi’s website and feeling very confident about her as a breeder, we put a deposit down on a pup! In fact before all was done and said, we put a deposit on a second pup also. My wife and I had spoken with Jodi a couple of times by phone as well as several email correspondences, Jodi was always quick to respond. While talking by phone one day I felt good about the fact that she did not try to rush me off of the phone also. My wife and I were just in awe at the beauty of her dogs that we saw on her website!

Jodi was awesome with how she keeps you updated with pics of the pups after they’re born, and with all the valuable info that she gives the parents to be. You definitely get a sense at how she’s genuinely concerned about the pups going to good homes also, that speaks very highly of her as a conscientious breeder.

So we made the drive from Buffalo NY which was the second leg of our trip, to Tennessee to pick up the pups, and then back home to Chicago. Jodi was a sheer pleasure to visit with as we talked with her about the dogs, all while getting to meet our pups!

We then had a situation where our little female had a bad bout of diarrhea going on. Jodi was very helpful when we contacted her in search of some info on how to best deal with it.

All in all just can’t say enough about the positive experience we had with buying our babies from Erbekees!

Oh as far as the pups themselves, they are turning out be some of the best pups we could have asked for! Their temperaments are just the best, that’s probably partly due to the breed and the fact that we do take them to puppy classes. Even since tiny little 8 week old pups, it just seemed that they were very good and eager to please.

Whether you've had 10 Keeshond's or this is your first, look no further you will not find better than Erbekee's. I found Erbekee's on line a couple of years ago and yes I was a bit skeptical of purchasing a new dog online but after speaking directly with Jodi I felt very comfortable and made the trek from Upstate NY to Southern Tennessee and it turned out to be a great decision!! I purchased my beautiful Dakota in April of 2017 and I absolutely love her, so much so that just made another trip back to Tennessee last week and picked up my newest addition Hank Jr. I highly recommend Erbekee's as Jodi is absolutely amazing, she is professional and thorough beyond belief but above all else she loves what she does and loves her dogs. What an absolute blessing Jodi is! I was asked by one of my clients to locate a breeder for Keeshond puppy after his pup passed away. I did some research and located AKC breeders throughout the United States. I called two breeders that were located closer to his home and was very disappointed by the way they spoke to me and their disbelief that I was calling on behalf of a client. Although I understood their skepticism, it was their loss because I had a very wealthy client willing to fly their own corporate jet anywhere in the world to pick up their new puppy. Jodi was the only breeder who actually gave me a chance to explain the situation and was respectful and kind. I knew myself that if I was looking for a dog, she would be the one that I would choose after our interactions. In fact, she even scheduled me to come down and meet her and her family and to help her on the ranch for a vacation that she was planning. We all know that breeders don't get to go away very often and unfortunately the trip did not come together because one of the dogs was going to give birth to a litter. We have 2 Erbekees puppies and we absolutely love them!

A little over a year ago our first Keeshond passed away. When we got her we knew nothing about the Keeshond breed. But soon we fell in love with her, and the Keeshond Breed. Needless to say we needed another!

This time around we knew we wanted to get a puppy from a reputable Keeshond Breeder (our previous Keeshond was from a pet store/puppy mill and had a host of health concerns). I did a ton of research about the breed and area breeders. Soon I found Erbekees! The website had a ton of information on the breed, how to care for them, pictures, and breeding philosophy. I particularly liked all the health testing that was done, as this was very important to us!

I then contacted Erbekees and sent a deposit in for a new puppy! We were then added to her Facebook group, which is a great place to get advice and see other Erbekees puppies! We got continuous updates, throughout the pregnancy and even once the puppy was born. We loved the weekly emails, which included awesome pictures, growth and development information, and so much more! It made the 8 weeks pass so quickly! The breeder answered any and every question we had.

Once the 8 week mark came we drove from Massachusetts to Tennessee to pick up our new puppy. When we arrived we were invited into the breeder's house. She showed us around, specifically the dog/puppy room and the backyard. Her dogs were very well taken care of (and very friendly!). We left with a beautiful puppy and a binder full of great information (health status/testing of the parents, microchip info, AKC/CKC info and much more).

We feel in love with our new puppy, so much so that we decided to get another! In no time we were driving back down to Tennessee with our 7 month old puppy to get our second puppy.

Our family couldn't be happier with our new Keeshond puppy. He is good-natured, affectionate, exceptionally beautiful, and incredibly intelligent. We got our puppy from Jodi towards the end of May 2022. The whole process was exciting and very easy to follow. We were informed of when we were eligible for a litter pick and also when it was our turn to pick from that specific litter. We then arranged to meet Jodi at the airport to get our fuzzy bundle. I recommend Erbekees-Keeshonden for anyone wanting a beautiful, smart, healthy Keeshond puppy with a great lineage, medical testing and great care in the breeding process and coming from a great breeder who is available to the people who ask questions and become her customers. We received our boy Deeks in April of this year from the 2/19/21 litter from Kaya and Kovi. Jodi sends great information, is available for emails and calls. She has been having regular Zoom calls for any and all questions you may have about the Breed or a specific puppy or trait. My vet was impressed with the binder Jodi supplied with Deeks. She sent him a toy with his Mom's scent on it with him, a sample of the food he had been eating, and gave us a lot of tips when we came to get him. He is a very healthy almost 20 pounds now at almost 5 months old and I have been told from friends, vet staff, neighbors, etcetera that he really wants to go live with them. I have to disagree with them and then tell them to get on Jodi's list like I did. Deeks is very social, verbal, and fast on his feet. He truly believes that everyone loves him or would if he could meet them. He is adorable, mischievous, and a complete attention hound. He loves walks, playing with his brother Hank, digging in his sandbox, and cheese. Thank you so much Jodi for our funny, fuzzy boy!!!

Six weeks ago we picked up our pup, Mischa from Jodi Erbe, and we couldn’t be more pleased. We have owned many dogs, including a 6 yr old Keeshond 32 years ago, but never a puppy. I knew we were in for an adventure but I cannot say enough about Jodi’s guidance through this process. She is truly a professional in her dog breeding business. It is all about her dogs and their well-being, which is why she feels so strongly about providing her clients with the utmost in information about their health, both your and the puppy’s adjustments, behavioral issues, unrealistic expectations, and the delights in owning a Keeshond.

During the 8.5 months we waited for Mischa, I shared with friends and relatives some of what I had gleaned from Jodi’s Zoom calls and her emails, and not one of them had had an experience with a breeder as I was having. Her accessibility before and after your litter arrives is exemplary. She feels an educated dog-parent will only result in a healthy and happy home for her puppies. Even last week, we spoke, as Mischa had had an accident resulting in a severe sprain in his hind quarter. What to do? I knew some of our options, but never having had such a young dog, I was unaware of the consequences of ‘waiting it out’. We followed her advice, had him checked out, and he is back to being the rascal he was before his injury.

I waited to write this review until my puppy reached 1.5 years old, so that I could say how healthy our dog is, how wonderful of an experience we’ve had, and how grateful we are.

As someone who is cognizant of the stigma of going to a breeder, I can tell you that Jodi treats her dogs well, has a clean establishment, and is the best choice you can make when choosing a Keeshond puppy to add to your family. After walking away from a different breeder that was dirty and had a few other red flags, I traveled from Minnesota to Erbekees location twice, and as a scientist whose career is in quality, Erbekees passes my inspection and then some.

I like how Jodi’s dogs are treated, I like how she interacted with me and my husband, and I like my resultant family member. We were seeking a non-show dog companion and we could fool anyone with our dog’s show stopping appearance, behavior, and excellent health.

I cannot recommend Erbekees highly enough.

We cannot recommend Jodi and Erbekees highly enough. We have had the great fortune to have gotten three of our Kees from Jodi, and have been a satisfied customer for eleven years. Jodi is a pleasure to work with, and really goes the extra mile to ensure her puppies are healthy. We got our first puppy from her eleven years ago, and the lastest a couple months ago.

And I would be remiss if I didn't also recommend the breed. We got our first Kee many years ago because my wife was allergic to pet dander, and Kees are dander-free - hypoallergenic for my wife. Not only are they the cutest puppies (I defy anyone to go see a litter and not leave with at least one) but they are great companion dogs - loving, great with kids, big enough to play with but small enough to crawl in your lap. Which they will do - a lot.

Jodi made the process easy to get our Keeshond. There was a lot of info on her website, which helped us pick her for getting our Mazz. We got updates and pictures every week from birth until we picked her up. She helped us with registration with AKC, which we still get lots of pup info. By talking to Jodi, you can see how much she loves the breed.

When we picked up Mazakeen, she had her in the dining room sitting like a perfect angel. We got to meet Mazakeens parents and siblings.

Our vet was shocked by how much detail we gave him from Jodi. He said that he would see that much testing and detail when all the new pros come in.

Our two Erbekees fur babies mean the world to us! They will be turning two years old this September and October. I waited to do a review because I wanted to be able to honestly discuss what it has been like to live with our Keeshonden since puppyhood. I spent a year researching different breeders and then another year waiting for one of Jodi's babies. That's how important it was to me that we would have the right match for my husband and myself. Jodi was always professional yet personable. She answered my numerous questions promptly and opened her home to us when we came to choose our puppies.

Kilo, our male, is a hunk! He weighs 59 pounds. He is gorgeous and is a real furball! Kozy is my velcro, foxy lady who follows me everywhere. She has the sweetest temperament but holds her own when her brother wants to play rough. They are both adventurous, love to explore the woods where we live and are great to hike with.

Our fur babies are healthy, sometimes stubborn but always loving. They do require constant grooming and since we live in the woods our pups have a tendency to pick up burrs in their fur. So be forewarned you will definitely have to comb out tangles and your house will have tufts of fur everywhere! But it will be worth it and can be a great bonding experience of one-on-one time with your baby.

I've had a wonderful experience with Erbekees-Keeshonden! Having contacted a couple of other Keeshond breeders before settling on one, I chose Erbekees because of how friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable Jodi is. She consistently responded within 24 hrs over email (and happily provides her phone number as well), she provided all the information I might need, and she answered all my questions that came up throughout this process. Having visited Jodi's home to pick out my puppy, it was clear that her Keeshonden are well taken care of and are happy members of her home!

Once the litter was born, she sent out detailed weekly updates including adorable pictures. Later, when it was time to pick up my sweet female, now named "Holland", she provided me with a really helpful "puppy pack" that included a binder with all of her recorded shots and information, some packs of the kibble she was used to, and a toy that smelled like mom! This is not to mention that my puppy already had her microchip!

Holland impressed my vet who's said she's a very healthy puppy and couldn't get enough of her! Personally, I'm over the moon with her as well! She's very confident and playful, and she's so bright! At 10 weeks old, she's already learned so much including sit, lie down, roll over, and leave it! We just love her, Thanks Jodi!

After having put down our nearly 14 year old mutt in November 2016, we made the decision to adopt a dog from Jodi with Erbekees in the late summer of 2017. The decision to get a Keeshond was due to experience---and realizing our daughter was not allergic to being around the breed (as we have family who have owned Keeshonds for many years). Our 5 year old daughter never had a problem with our own (previous) dog, perhaps it is that she was born into it and was immune; however, even around several hypoallergenic dogs, she had severe skin and respiratory allergic reactions. I will say, the only thing she does react to with the Kees is if the dog licks her face---so, clearly, we understand how to prevent those reactions now and identified that immediately.

I bring this background, only to provide one important point of view to us while choosing a dog for our family. The other major decision is how would this dog act around children? It is common for Keeshonds to be great family dogs, as they are generally great with children. Our Erbekees Keeshond has held true to that expectation. She is super playful and can, at times, be a little nippy… but it is her playful nature, still being a puppy (about 14 weeks). Our Erbekees loves to be by our side and under our feet---while she does enjoy playing ball and taking puppy naps in between.

We found Jodi upon doing research on the internet; in addition, we have family within a couple of hours of Jodi in Tennessee who also read the positive reviews on Erbekees. I called Jodi this summer and she was very helpful in answering all my questions about the breed, her process, her dogs, etc. Adoption expectations were thorough and very clear, as outlined in the application and reminded in weekly communication emails. Any time I had a question, I received thorough information in return---usually by email (my preference of communication in this case). Once we determined that we wanted a puppy from the Erbkees future litter, we began receiving regular email updates on the process which were always very informative. I, too, am on Facebook and follow/checked in on pictures and updates there. Just before Thanksgiving 2017, we made the journey from the Indianapolis area and our Erbekees has been with us since. Jodi was a pleasure to meet, very friendly, and the drive back to her house was gorgeous.

As far as our experience goes so far, we have not had any health issues other than a small hernia that will be fixed once we have the dog spayed at 4 months. Kassie, our “baby Kees” is coming along on housebreaking. From weeks 7-13, I personally set my alarm to make sure she was getting through the night; now, I can let her be in the crate and she is ok for about 7 or 8 hours. We began crate training with her by week 8 and if we are consistent with her, it reduces the opportunity to use the bathroom on our floors. We also have kept her pinned into a small area during this period. She now usually barks by the gates when she needs to go outside. For me personally (the mom), this has been the only true hard part of having a dog; however, this holds true to puppies in general.

Overall, if you are searching for a dog, I would consider contacting Jodi and having a conversation. Her knowledge and experience with breeding set me at ease. The dogs are of course beautiful (Kassie’s cuteness gets so many excited responses and reactions from people who have either seen her in person or in person, at the vet, etc…). Her attention to bloodlines and creating healthful, well-tempered dogs was priority to us. We look forward to the many years of bonding ahead.

  I thoroughly researched for a very long time for a responsible and reputable Keeshond breeder. There are way too many breeders who don’t understand (or care) what it takes to not only produce beautiful puppies, but healthy puppies through testing. I was thrilled to find Jodi when I saw how much care and excellence she puts into her kennel and puppies, and she produces some of the most gorgeous Keeshond puppies I’ve ever seen. I also loved that Jodi has a large Facebook group of clientele that share photos of their now grown puppies. All breeders can show their cute puppies when they advertise them, but you rarely get to see what those puppies grow up to look like. With Jodi’s Facebook group, there are hundreds of happy clients sharing their beautiful, healthy dogs they purchased from her.   We had been looking at getting a dog for a while and stumbled upon the Keeshond breed. After doing much research we found out about Jodi and got on her wait list last summer. Since then she provided frequent updates and kept us well informed. Our puppy was finally born on January 1 and we took him home end of February. The wait was worth it!

  After losing two dogs in 2014, I decided to adopt a Keeshond puppy from Erbekees. I have been a long time owner of Keeshond's, but they are difficult to locate in California. In May 2015 I brought home Kodi, the perfect temperament and personality for my two older Keeshond's at the time. Now it is 2019, and I have three pups from Jodi, I am proud to say, two of them are the beautiful white Keeshond.

  Jodi makes the entire process easy, from beginning to end. Jodi is very transparent about her breeding program and is very knowledgeable about the breed. She puts a tremendous amount of effort into ensuring the health and temperament of both the parents and the puppies. I picked up two of the puppies from Jodi's home, where I could meet the parents and see firsthand how well she takes care of her dogs and puppies.   I highly recommend Jodi Erbe and her puppies, her breeding program should be the standard. Jodi has provided a notebook for each one of the pups loaded with information about the parents. I have had puppies in the past that were the result of irresponsible breeding and all had health issues their entire life. My three Erbekees are all healthy dogs, they are wonderful with all people from kids to seniors, and other dogs alike. Erbekees number 4 will be coming home in December.

  Jodi is exceptionally knowledgeable about Keeshonden and dogs in general. She tests her puppies, as well as older dogs, way beyond the norm of other breeders. My vet was amazed at the responsible nature of checking KATIA. Katia, is from Jodi.

  My Kees. died unexpectedly. I wanted to get a pup and I only wanted a pup from her. She had brought Katia over from Russia to breed, but she did not conceive. I gave Katia her forever home. You can see pictures of Katia as a pup on the web site (or you used to). I have talked and emailed with Jodi, I think she is a remarkable person. She is very special indeed

  We were first directed to Erbekees through the AKC market place. After checking out Jodi’s website and feeling very confident about her as a breeder, we put a deposit down on a pup! In fact before all was done and said, we put a deposit on a second pup also. My wife and I had spoken with Jodi a couple of times by phone as well as several email correspondences, Jodi was always quick to respond. While talking by phone one day I felt good about the fact that she did not try to rush me off of the phone also. My wife and I were just in awe at the beauty of her dogs that we saw on her website!

  Jodi was awesome with how she keeps you updated with pics of the pups after they’re born, and with all the valuable info that she gives the parents to be. You definitely get a sense at how she’s genuinely concerned about the pups going to good homes also, that speaks very highly of her as a conscientious breeder.

  So we made the drive from Buffalo NY which was the second leg of our trip, to Tennessee to pick up the pups, and then back home to Chicago. Jodi was a sheer pleasure to visit with as we talked with her about the dogs, all while getting to meet our pups!

  We then had a situation where our little female had a bad bout of diarrhea going on. Jodi was very helpful when we contacted her in search of some info on how to best deal with it.

  All in all just can’t say enough about the positive experience we had with buying our babies from Erbekees!

  Oh as far as the pups themselves, they are turning out be some of the best pups we could have asked for! Their temperaments are just the best, that’s probably partly due to the breed and the fact that we do take them to puppy classes. Even since tiny little 8 week old pups, it just seemed that they were very good and eager to please.

  Whether you've had 10 Keeshond's or this is your first, look no further you will not find better than Erbekee's. I found Erbekee's on line a couple of years ago and yes I was a bit skeptical of purchasing a new dog online but after speaking directly with Jodi I felt very comfortable and made the trek from Upstate NY to Southern Tennessee and it turned out to be a great decision!!   What an absolute blessing Jodi is! I was asked by one of my clients to locate a breeder for Keeshond puppy after his pup passed away. I did some research and located AKC breeders throughout the United States. I called two breeders that were located closer to his home and was very disappointed by the way they spoke to me and their disbelief that I was calling on behalf of a client. Although I understood their skepticism, it was their loss because I had a very wealthy client willing to fly their own corporate jet anywhere in the world to pick up their new puppy. Jodi was the only breeder who actually gave me a chance to explain the situation and was respectful and kind. I knew myself that if I was looking for a dog, she would be the one that I would choose after our interactions. In fact, she even scheduled me to come down and meet her and her family and to help her on the ranch for a vacation that she was planning. We all know that breeders don't get to go away very often and unfortunately the trip did not come together because one of the dogs was going to give birth to a litter.   We have 2 Erbekees puppies and we absolutely love them!

  A little over a year ago our first Keeshond passed away. When we got her we knew nothing about the Keeshond breed. But soon we fell in love with her, and the Keeshond Breed. Needless to say we needed another!

  This time around we knew we wanted to get a puppy from a reputable Keeshond Breeder (our previous Keeshond was from a pet store/puppy mill and had a host of health concerns). I did a ton of research about the breed and area breeders. Soon I found Erbekees! The website had a ton of information on the breed, how to care for them, pictures, and breeding philosophy. I particularly liked all the health testing that was done, as this was very important to us!

  I then contacted Erbekees and sent a deposit in for a new puppy! We were then added to her Facebook group, which is a great place to get advice and see other Erbekees puppies! We got continuous updates, throughout the pregnancy and even once the puppy was born. We loved the weekly emails, which included awesome pictures, growth and development information, and so much more! It made the 8 weeks pass so quickly! The breeder answered any and every question we had.

  Once the 8 week mark came we drove from Massachusetts to Tennessee to pick up our new puppy. When we arrived we were invited into the breeder's house. She showed us around, specifically the dog/puppy room and the backyard. Her dogs were very well taken care of (and very friendly!). We left with a beautiful puppy and a binder full of great information (health status/testing of the parents, microchip info, AKC/CKC info and much more).

  We feel in love with our new puppy, so much so that we decided to get another! In no time we were driving back down to Tennessee with our 7 month old puppy to get our second puppy.

  We got our puppy from Jodi towards the end of May 2022. The whole process was exciting and very easy to follow.   I recommend Erbekees-Keeshonden for anyone wanting a beautiful, smart, healthy Keeshond puppy with a great lineage, medical testing and great care in the breeding process and coming from a great breeder who is available to the people who ask questions and become her customers. We received our boy Deeks in April of this year from the 2/19/21 litter from Kaya and Kovi. Jodi sends great information, is available for emails and calls. She has been having regular Zoom calls for any and all questions you may have about the Breed or a specific puppy or trait. My vet was impressed with the binder Jodi supplied with Deeks. She sent him a toy with his Mom's scent on it with him, a sample of the food he had been eating, and gave us a lot of tips when we came to get him. He is a very healthy almost 20 pounds now at almost 5 months old and I have been told from friends, vet staff, neighbors, etcetera that he really wants to go live with them. I have to disagree with them and then tell them to get on Jodi's list like I did. Deeks is very social, verbal, and fast on his feet. He truly believes that everyone loves him or would if he could meet them. He is adorable, mischievous, and a complete attention hound.   Six weeks ago we picked up our pup, Mischa from Jodi Erbe, and we couldn’t be more pleased. We have owned many dogs, including a 6 yr old Keeshond 32 years ago, but never a puppy. I knew we were in for an adventure but I cannot say enough about Jodi’s guidance through this process. She is truly a professional in her dog breeding business. It is all about her dogs and their well-being, which is why she feels so strongly about providing her clients with the utmost in information about their health, both your and the puppy’s adjustments, behavioral issues, unrealistic expectations, and the delights in owning a Keeshond.

  During the 8.5 months we waited for Mischa, I shared with friends and relatives some of what I had gleaned from Jodi’s Zoom calls and her emails, and not one of them had had an experience with a breeder as I was having. Her accessibility before and after your litter arrives is exemplary. She feels an educated dog-parent will only result in a healthy and happy home for her puppies. Even last week, we spoke, as Mischa had had an accident resulting in a severe sprain in his hind quarter. What to do? I knew some of our options, but never having had such a young dog, I was unaware of the consequences of ‘waiting it out’. We followed her advice, had him checked out, and he is back to being the rascal he was before his injury.

  I waited to write this review until my puppy reached 1.5 years old, so that I could say how healthy our dog is, how wonderful of an experience we’ve had, and how grateful we are.

  As someone who is cognizant of the stigma of going to a breeder, I can tell you that Jodi treats her dogs well, has a clean establishment, and is the best choice you can make when choosing a Keeshond puppy to add to your family. After walking away from a different breeder that was dirty and had a few other red flags, I traveled from Minnesota to Erbekees location twice, and as a scientist whose career is in quality, Erbekees passes my inspection and then some.

  I like how Jodi’s dogs are treated, I like how she interacted with me and my husband, and I like my resultant family member. We were seeking a non-show dog companion and we could fool anyone with our dog’s show stopping appearance, behavior, and excellent health.

  I cannot recommend Erbekees highly enough.

  We cannot recommend Jodi and Erbekees highly enough. We have had the great fortune to have gotten three of our Kees from Jodi, and have been a satisfied customer for eleven years. Jodi is a pleasure to work with, and really goes the extra mile to ensure her puppies are healthy. We got our first puppy from her eleven years ago, and the lastest a couple months ago.

  And I would be remiss if I didn't also recommend the breed. We got our first Kee many years ago because my wife was allergic to pet dander, and Kees are dander-free - hypoallergenic for my wife. Not only are they the cutest puppies (I defy anyone to go see a litter and not leave with at least one) but they are great companion dogs - loving, great with kids, big enough to play with but small enough to crawl in your lap. Which they will do - a lot.

  Jodi made the process easy to get our Keeshond. There was a lot of info on her website, which helped us pick her for getting our Mazz. We got updates and pictures every week from birth until we picked her up. She helped us with registration with AKC, which we still get lots of pup info. By talking to Jodi, you can see how much she loves the breed.

  When we picked up Mazakeen, she had her in the dining room sitting like a perfect angel. We got to meet Mazakeens parents and siblings.

  Our vet was shocked by how much detail we gave him from Jodi. He said that he would see that much testing and detail when all the new pros come in.

  If we decide to get another Keeshond, we would definitely use Erbekees-Keeshond again

  We have purchased three silver/gray Kee’s from Jodi and one white. We followed her from her home in PA and drove to TN to pick up our last two pups. She has been fantastic working with us, our pups are always well groomed and taken care and her paperwork is amazing and in order!   I got my puppy from Jodi two years ago. Having had a Keeshond in the past, I could tell she would be a greet breeder. Her health screenings, care to attention, and insight from everything to food to grooming to training is astounding. She stays in touch, answers every question no matter how silly, does whatever she can to make the pick up and transition easy, and I LOVE how many updates she gives before its pick up time. She takes so many pictures and describes the puppies so well it’s as if you’re there before you even have yours in hand.

  As for the puppy I picked, he’s fully grown now and beautiful. He has such a great personality. He’s the sweetest, funniest dog I’ve ever owned. He followed me everywhere from day 1 and was potty trained within the week. He’s so very smart!

  The moment I decide to get another— and believe me, I will— Jodi’s the only person I’m going to reach out to.

  We first meet Jodi four years ago when we applied to take one of her fluffy little jellybeans home. Since day one, Jodi has been nothing but loving and supportive of us and our dogs. She provided in detail genetic and pedigree information for our pup and gave weekly updates on his development and tips for bringing him home. She continued to provide support and has created a large community of her dogs and their humans as they grow and develop. We could not have been happier with our experience with Jodi and then this January, she outdid herself. She had an older pup that was in need of a home, through no fault of his own, and picked us to be his humans and our Beaker to be his older brother. She could not have made a better fit. She has helped make our house a home and we look forward to working with her for more years to come.

  I cannot say enough great things about Erbekees-Keeshonden! Matter of fact, I was telling someone minutes ago all about Jodi Erbe and her Keeshonden. We live in NC and drove 10 hours to get our sweet boy and we are so glad we did! Every step of the way we were given updates and important information on this amazing breed. We had never had this kind of dog and after three weeks, we can’t imagine never NOT having one!! Jodi spoke with us on the phone whenever either my husband or I called and had questions and always answered patiently and thoroughly. It is obvious that she loves her dogs and cares for them in a way you could only dream your fur baby would be cared for before you take over. Thanks to her, the transition was as we expected and seamless. Our Quigley is so healthy and his temperament is amazing for our family of 5! For the first time in my life I can imagine why I would get more than one dog... and when we do, we will go back to Jodi!

  Couldn’t be happier to have Rizzo and Keva as part of our family. When we took Keva (younger of the two) to her first puppy visit at the vet she could not believe the extensive amount of information that Jodi provided. I first checked out Jodi’s webpage and found so much information I had to talk with her about a puppy. After talking with her I just knew that we had to add an addition to our family. That was 5 1/2 years ago and Rizzo has become a wonderful part of the family. Then last summer we knew the time was right to add one more. We went right back to Jodi and we now have Keva. Jodi breeds loving healthy Keeshonds. We are so happy that we found her!

  I watched Erbekees online for several years after losing my Keeshond of 12 years and finally contacted Jodi about a puppy. I am so glad I did.

  My Fanci is healthy and happy and at 7 mo old is turning into a beautiful girl. My vet said she is a beautiful specimen and was impressed with the health and breeding info provided with the puppy.

  Jodi kept us updated with pictures of the puppies and provided information on Keeshonden and puppies in general.

  My sis, niece, and I drove from Michigan (1200 miles round trip) to get my puppy and we don't regret a minute. Fanci was excellent on the way home. She was scared and timid at first but after about half an hour she jumped up and attacked my face with kisses! lol She has been my crazy puppy love ever since!

  I would highly recommend purchasing a puppy (or two) from Jodi and Erbekees.

  Our two Erbekees fur babies mean the world to us! They will be turning two years old this September and October. I waited to do a review because I wanted to be able to honestly discuss what it has been like to live with our Keeshonden since puppyhood. I spent a year researching different breeders and then another year waiting for one of Jodi's babies. That's how important it was to me that we would have the right match for my husband and myself. Jodi was always professional yet personable. She answered my numerous questions promptly and opened her home to us when we came to choose our puppies.

  Kilo, our male, is a hunk! He weighs 59 pounds. He is gorgeous and is a real furball! Kozy is my velcro, foxy lady who follows me everywhere. She has the sweetest temperament but holds her own when her brother wants to play rough. They are both adventurous, love to explore the woods where we live and are great to hike with.

  Our fur babies are healthy, sometimes stubborn but always loving. They do require constant grooming and since we live in the woods our pups have a tendency to pick up burrs in their fur. So be forewarned you will definitely have to comb out tangles and your house will have tufts of fur everywhere! But it will be worth it and can be a great bonding experience of one-on-one time with your baby.

  If you are lucky enough to get one of Jodi's puppies you will join a wonderful, supportive Erbekees Family of like-minded dog people!!!

  I've had a wonderful experience with Erbekees-Keeshonden! Having contacted a couple of other Keeshond breeders before settling on one, I chose Erbekees because of how friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable Jodi is. She consistently responded within 24 hrs over email (and happily provides her phone number as well), she provided all the information I might need, and she answered all my questions that came up throughout this process. Having visited Jodi's home to pick out my puppy, it was clear that her Keeshonden are well taken care of and are happy members of her home!

  Once the litter was born, she sent out detailed weekly updates including adorable pictures. Later, when it was time to pick up my sweet female, now named "Holland", she provided me with a really helpful "puppy pack" that included a binder with all of her recorded shots and information, some packs of the kibble she was used to, and a toy that smelled like mom! This is not to mention that my puppy already had her microchip!

  Holland impressed my vet who's said she's a very healthy puppy and couldn't get enough of her! Personally, I'm over the moon with her as well! She's very confident and playful, and she's so bright! At 10 weeks old, she's already learned so much including sit, lie down, roll over, and leave it! We just love her, Thanks Jodi!

  After having put down our nearly 14 year old mutt in November 2016, we made the decision to adopt a dog from Jodi with Erbekees in the late summer of 2017. The decision to get a Keeshond was due to experience---and realizing our daughter was not allergic to being around the breed (as we have family who have owned Keeshonds for many years). Our 5 year old daughter never had a problem with our own (previous) dog, perhaps it is that she was born into it and was immune; however, even around several hypoallergenic dogs, she had severe skin and respiratory allergic reactions. I will say, the only thing she does react to with the Kees is if the dog licks her face---so, clearly, we understand how to prevent those reactions now and identified that immediately.

  I bring this background, only to provide one important point of view to us while choosing a dog for our family. The other major decision is how would this dog act around children? It is common for Keeshonds to be great family dogs, as they are generally great with children. Our Erbekees Keeshond has held true to that expectation. She is super playful and can, at times, be a little nippy… but it is her playful nature, still being a puppy (about 14 weeks). Our Erbekees loves to be by our side and under our feet---while she does enjoy playing ball and taking puppy naps in between.

  We found Jodi upon doing research on the internet; in addition, we have family within a couple of hours of Jodi in Tennessee who also read the positive reviews on Erbekees. I called Jodi this summer and she was very helpful in answering all my questions about the breed, her process, her dogs, etc. Adoption expectations were thorough and very clear, as outlined in the application and reminded in weekly communication emails. Any time I had a question, I received thorough information in return---usually by email (my preference of communication in this case). Once we determined that we wanted a puppy from the Erbkees future litter, we began receiving regular email updates on the process which were always very informative. I, too, am on Facebook and follow/checked in on pictures and updates there. Just before Thanksgiving 2017, we made the journey from the Indianapolis area and our Erbekees has been with us since. Jodi was a pleasure to meet, very friendly, and the drive back to her house was gorgeous.

  As far as our experience goes so far, we have not had any health issues other than a small hernia that will be fixed once we have the dog spayed at 4 months. Kassie, our “baby Kees” is coming along on housebreaking. From weeks 7-13, I personally set my alarm to make sure she was getting through the night; now, I can let her be in the crate and she is ok for about 7 or 8 hours. We began crate training with her by week 8 and if we are consistent with her, it reduces the opportunity to use the bathroom on our floors. We also have kept her pinned into a small area during this period. She now usually barks by the gates when she needs to go outside. For me personally (the mom), this has been the only true hard part of having a dog; however, this holds true to puppies in general.

  Overall, if you are searching for a dog, I would consider contacting Jodi and having a conversation. Her knowledge and experience with breeding set me at ease. The dogs are of course beautiful (Kassie’s cuteness gets so many excited responses and reactions from people who have either seen her in person or in person, at the vet, etc…). Her attention to bloodlines and creating healthful, well-tempered dogs was priority to us. We look forward to the many years of bonding ahead.
